All us elderly folks...let's get REALLY old school...favorite Atari 2600 game? notable accomplishments on teh Atari? For me, fave game was Star Raiders. used the keypad AND joystick. notable accomplishments...wave 52 on Joust. got bored and turned off Congo Bongo after the 44th board (there's only 4 boards, repeat in order, endlessly), played 7 hours of nonstop game on Yars Revenge.

Fave Atari 2600? Can't remember the name but it was an aftermarket cartridge from Activision which had WAY better graphics than anything from Atari. It was a vertical scrolling space shooter. Some of the ships vaguely resembled the USS Enterprise from Star Trek. Wish I could remember the name. It was a really good game and I owned it in every sense of the word.
[those_were_the_days] Now if you REALLY want to go old school, remember Christmas of 1974 and the Pong craze? The only home video game to be had anywhere. Plenty of companies made them, some better than others. I distinctly remember running from store to store with my cousins trying to find one the day before Christmas eve. We played that so much we wore the controller rheostats out within two months. [/those_were_the_days]

Activision....I remember kicking obscene ass on Robot Tank...dunno if you ever played that one..but I managed 88 kills once. River Raid, that's a timeless classic.
little more obscure...Reactor? or Xonox Artillery Duel?

FOUND IT! Activision MegaMania. Also completely forgot about some other great Activision titles like Chopper Command and Kaboom! Great stuff and amazingly good for the day and the technology. The nostalgia generated by this stuff is exactly why I built my MAME cabinet. Much simpler but ridiculously fun games. Fair Warning: I have never seen/used the website referenced below before today. I did a google search for Activision Atari 2600 games and this came up. I merely present it to show details of the Activision games. http://www.mobygames.com/game/a-collect ... atari-2600

panimer wrote: Metal Slug anyone? Absolutely. Check out my MAME cabinet on the first page of this thread (the one with a fire-breathing Bowser on the side). I have Metal Slug 1,2,3, and X. Love it, although if I had to use real quarters playing it, I'd be quite broke by now.

Wasteland was one of the best I played, and Dragon Wars on the Amiga, rpg like bards tale but used all the parties skills and such.
Great games.
