I'm sure this applies to all strategy and real time strategy, but is there a smart way to play this? I did it the dumb way, I wiped out one opponent, and then turned to the other. Realizing the whole time, he was just sitting back and sucking up resources. Sure enough, I finish off guy 1, and guy 2 runs me over. Suggestions on how to successfully navigate a 3 on 3 ffa?

I think you mean 1v1v1 (3v3 is 9 players in one match, which we don't support.. yet).

I'm sure some of our players can field this question better than I can. Bubbles? AanAllein? Xlom3000? Arbitor?

... Bueller?

Well, I can't really comment on how it would be done in this game, but I was in a 4 player free for all last night in Starcraft 2 beta and I went and took out all the attacking units of Teal, then left his base and destroyed the base of purple entirely before coming back to run down teal again. Red wan't even worth attacking, purple had be harrasing him all game.

I do recall seeing that strategy in 2 on 2. Good thought, thanks!

I would think you should conserve your forces as much as possible.

Keep the balance of power in check, don't let one player get too strong.

Take advantage when the other 2 is fighting.

you could rush the resources at the begining so you can make a strong force and keep the offensive.

but if you spend everything spawning a bunch of infantry, you won't have anything to defend the newly seized resources with. Need to find a balance that works with your deck and play style. For me personally, the "Enlist Recon and Infantry" card was awesome, pre-reset.

After playing in FFA tournament last night, here is some thoughts.

1. The key is keeping the balance of power in check. Each player's job is to attack the strongest player. Most of the 1v1v1 maps have a central area with victory points and a key resource point. Only 1 lucky person will emerge with middle in the beginning. If you got mid, play defensive. If you didn't get it, work with the other person to restore balance.

2. Secure your side resources. Make sure some enemy can't just sneak up on you and steal a resource. Resources are scarce on both maps, and it costs you time + turns to spawn an infantry to take a resource back.

3. Heli+AA is a good strategy. Speed is not as important in FFA as 1v1. You want a solid unit make-up.

4. At any point don't quit, it's a disrespect to 2 other people, and can influence the outcome of the game in drastic ways.

thats true but with the captured resources you'll make the money back with the coming turns so you can provide support...but idk, im still trying to develop my strategy myself ;)

I normally focus on one team, while sending out a few recons, and using the vision from that to see what the team I'm not focusing on is doing. If they're getting a little too uppity, then switch efforts to that team immediately.
