Hey, Battledex is an American game and there are so many American players and still no super bowl thread?
I ve watched it for the first time and it was quiet interesting.

i tried to watch it , but what is it with all the stopping , a game that is 1hr long (4 x 15 mins play i think but i fell asleep watching it ) takes 4hrs to play .. please explain why ?

I have to admit that Ive only watched it for one hour. There were a lot of breaks thats true.

football has too many penalties :/ I didn't care who won, but it's always fun to pick sides and my side won so.. yay  Really though, if you go to an american high school or college and they have a good team it's entirely different. My high school was the state runners-up last year and we won the state championships this year. I rarely get into sports, but man, several games have made me go completely hoarse

The breaks are annoying for people who like Rugby or Soccer, but it is far less boring than baseball, which has even more breaks. Football does so well because people who know the game can talk and eat during the breaks as they are for set times -- about 45 seconds between each play. It is social fan friendly, plus it is commercial friendly (unlike soccer/rugby that can't really have commercials).

ok i can see the point of going to watch it now , like you say social get together , , but how can you sit for 4 hrs and watch it on the tv ? 5 sec of play , then 45 sec of waiting ???

So it was designed for people consuming/watching commercials ( so also consuming ) more Same probably with baseball. And those are only 2 major sports originated in US. ( now I am just guessing ).

While i'll admiit there are TONS of breaks it really fun to watch
Every year familys get together to watch it and they'll buy lots of food and drinks and Sometimes groups of hundreds will get together and watch it. Although i don't make a BIG deal about it lots of people do and it is Americas #1 thing to watch.

must be me then but after watching rugby ( like to watch this / go and see my local club ) i just can not get my head around this game
like you say , its an american thing
