Has anyone ever play the old and little known MMORTS Shattered Galaxy? Although it is not turn-based, it was very well balanced.
The game featured victory points dotted across maps, and they are captured in 30-45 seconds with a friendly unit standing on them. Many different units can be customized into multiple roles, such as burst, melee damage, cappers, long range bombardment, and another type called "sitter" units.
These units featured heavy armor, low damage, and just sat on POC (point of control) to block potential cappers.
This game sorely needs this mechanic. While it is true you can move units on top of a resource building or control point, due to the current pathing issues, this is not the most efficient method. I've suggested 2 cards that can possibly introduce the game mechanic in the create-a-card section. I've reposted them below:
Card title: Futuristic Stasis (Buff) Duration: 2 Turns Rarity: Ultra Rare Description: Immobilizes ground vehicle. Target is damage immune for the 2 turnduration.
Card title: Chunk of Scrap Metal Duration: Permanent Rarity: Ultra Rare Description: Place a chunk of scrap metal next to a ground mechanical unit with 25 hp at destination. Chunk of metal cannot move or attack.
This mechanic is sorely needed because right now, it's a zerg fest, and most often, a mercenary zerg fest to get to the resource point. Executing these cards would prove another alternative to zerging. More options = more strategy = what you want in a turn-based multiplayer strategy game.
