A game from last thursday´s sealed (3rd round), versus Vegas on Island Paradise.

As can be appreciated (turns 20 and onward), i have serious problems capping a CP that is protected by Arties which, in turn, are protected by LOS-breaking trees.

I absolutely hate CPs providing LOS and think it´s ridiculous, but perhaps it´s just because I´m a n00b.

The fact that they can even spot camo seems to me... dunno, some level of ridiculeness I have yet to define.

So... any Top Dogs have some tips and/or pointers and/or some criticism on how could I have done differently and care to share them, I would be much obliged.

(of course, tips about any other portion of the fight are also warmly welcome)

In sealed its very important to take the checkpoints as fast as possible. In a constructed you could easily drop an airborne ranger and take the point...but in sealed its whole different story. So you should have taken it from the beginning, as in the end its very difficult to take back a point which is defended.

If you go for cp quickly, then your opponent has more money than you for capping resources. He gets more resources and is stronger, so it is fair that you have some advantage in defending that cp.

Island paradise is special case, you have really strong position for defending that cp. I was succesful in defending it against opponent with much more money, but was also able to cap that cp in opposite situation. What you need to do is to destroy opponents units first. It might not be easy, but it can be done.

Thanks for the advise, guys. Yup... seems clear that I should make a point about taking CPs earlier.

I agree that there should be some advantage for the defender (since, as fewar points out, is a trade-off between getting resources vs getting cps), but I still think that CPs providing LOS for artillery fire (even if the infantry has camo) is too much of an advantage.

At any rate, there is no doubt that it is not a balance issue (since it cuts both ways), so I guess that´s just something I gotta learn to deal with.
