As far as I can tell, the only way to be able to get gold in boot camp is to be able to get an Infantry on the CP on the first turn, but I can't figure out how to do that.
Suggestions?

actually i used a fighter, airlift 3, and buffed artilleries (1 with binoculars to see base)
but it's easier to get the CP. Just make a fighter on the starting hex, use Airborne, and give the inf Adrenaline Boost

Edit: Tried that, the Infantry has to take the CP on the first turn in order to cap by Turn 3. Having them go on by turn 2 caps the CP by turn 4, ending the map on turn 14 instead of 12.

In 12 turns? Suggestions on units? I'm thinking Air would be best.

fighter + aviation octane boost, move the fighter to back edge in just the right spot airlift 3 with 3 artillery, firepower/lethal as many as you can afford. Make sure the heavy is only attacking one (hence "just the right spot") but all 3 are in range of the base. The "right spot" gives fighter vision of the base Give one artillery binoculars and move it 2 hexes from base so it still fires, but also sees it Move the arty in range of Heavy in the binocular arty's place Move the fighter in damage range of base. He will be shot down eventually, but you have arty vision!
Keep attacking with the 3 arties for gg

Same problem here, unable to get the gold medal by taking the control point. Will try and destroy the base this evening, but I do think that it is very hard with only the cards you start with.

I did it with puting merc fighter, airborn 2 on a space to be nearer to the cp, death march on inf to run 5 spaces to the CP at turn 2 it is captured, +10 turns = turn 12.

Is it just me being forced to use the starter pack?
EDIT: You can edit your starting pack.
